No, RouterSim products are not exact duplicates of real equipment. However, what RouterSim does give you is the most realistic and sophisticated router-simulated training tools on the market today. We only support the commands found within the hands on labs.
Yes. You can run our programs on one computer at a time. You would install your license on the computer you want to work with. You would then remove it if you want to run your program on another computer.
It is very easy to work on our programs at home and work. We require an Internet authorization that has you entering license when you first install and run your program. There is a button on main screen that allows you to install your license. There is also a button that allows you to remove your license. When you are, for example, ready to go home from work, click the Remove License button, enter your license and you are all set. You can then pull down the authorization from home.
Net Detective® will help assist you when something is not working on the system. In many cases it will give you a hint. For example, let's say you ping from router A to router C but serial 0/0 on router B is shut down, Net Detective will tell you that. Or, you set up a static route on A but put in the wrong IP address on router C, serial 0/0. When your ping does not succeed, Net Detective® will assist you and tell you that you have set up a static route but your IP address (for C serial 0/0) is not found in the list.

While the labs in the program follow the content in his book, other reference books can be used. Lammle's CCNA Routing and Switching Study Guide provides a closer match to the content found in the program's labs. Please examine a list of supported commands on our web site and in the program as to our supported commands. We do not support all commands in the CCNA Routing and Switching Study Guide.
Along with your product you will receive a 16 character license. After installing the program, you choose a menu option to install or remove your license. The program will not continue past the first screen without an authorization installed on your hard drive.
